What I will say is that owning one of our water systems will produce Kangen Water effectively for 15+ years when properly maintained and save you thousands in replacing common toxic cleaning and beauty products in your home as well as replacing the need to purchase single-use bottled water (which as you've seen isn't the best option for health and hydration). Now, knowing all of that, the question becomes more about how much it will save you versus how much it will cost! And the answer to that is hundreds to thousands annually!

There are a few things to keep in mind.

Our water systems have a built-in, self-clean mechanism that is automatically activated for 10 seconds when water has been continuous for 15 minutes. In addition to the self-clean cycle your system will perform, we recommend selecting the “beauty water” option for 30-90 seconds a few times per week as our systems have been equipped with reverse polarization technology which reverses the electric current and helps repel any mineral/calcium buildup on the electrode plates within the system.

Furthermore, in order to keep calcium from building up on the electrode plates, we recommend running a clean cycle 1-2 times per month. You receive everything you need in order to do this and the touch screen monitor (on the K8) walks you through how to do it step-by-step.

In addition to the above, the filter will need to be replaced. How often the filter needs replacement will depend on how much water you run through your water system. It can by anywhere from 6 months - 1 year. On average for a family of 4 we find that filters generally get swapped out about once per year.

Lastly, a deep cleaning by a certified technician at an Enagic Office is recommended once per year. There are 43 global offices in 26 countries, so servicing is both easy and accessible.

Our water systems have a 3-5 year warranty but will last much longer than that! With proper maintenance, the medical-grade electrodes with our systems are designed to last 15 years at minimum.

With that being said, there are people who are even still using their kangen system they purchased 21 years ago!

We recommend starting out by setting the pH level to 8.5 for at least the first 2 weeks. From there, you can gradually adjust the pH level to 9.0 while paying attention to your body.

Some people experience detoxification reactions if they increase the pH too quickly which is why it’s important to listen to your body.

These numbers are just meant to be used as a guideline but each individual is different so its important to keep that in mind.

After anywhere from 2-4 weeks on the 9.0, you can adjust the setting to 9.5pH and increase your intake based on your bodily needs and physical condition. If at any point you experience discomfort you can always go back down to a lower pH until your body feels ready to move up again.

In order to receive the most molecular hydrogen (which is where the majority of the health benefits come from), Kangen Water®️ should be consumed as fresh as possible.

For children or seniors, set the pH level at each level for even longer upon starting, and gradually increase it as the body adjusts to the current pH level.

In the case of infants (until about a year old), the intestinal movement is generally different from adults, and the use of Kangen Water®️ is not encouraged until the infant begins to consume more sophisticated foods.

Also, Kangen Water®️ should not be used to make powdered milk for infants. ONLY use 7.0pH if/when making baby formula.

Although our water systems do contain a carbon block filter inside of them, their primary function is not filtration or purification but rather ionization. There’s a huge difference between filtering and ionizing.

Filtration removes unhealthy elements and particulates from the water. Different filters take out different things - sediment, odor, chlorine, heavy metals, pesticides, etc. Filtration is what is going to clean the water.

Ionization involves a process called electrolysis that changes the molecular structure and properties of the water. It creates molecular hydrogen that has been shown to act as a selective antioxidant in our bodies, reducing inflammation, increasing detoxification, aiding in the production of energy and so much more.

Molecular hydrogen is the smallest antioxidant in the world and can cross many biological membranes including the blood brain barrier. This ionized water results in superior hydration and antioxidant-rich water.

Our water systems do have internal filters as a part of the process. These filters remove elements such as chlorine, chloramines, sediment, VOCs, unpleasant tastes and odors, dirt, sand, rust, silt, and other organic materials. Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water purification process that uses a semi-permeable membrane (synthetic lining) to filter out more than 90-99% of all the contaminants. The problem with this process is that RO, in addition to removing contaminants, removes healthy, naturally-occurring minerals in the water. These minerals not only provide taste, but they also serve a vital function in the body’s system. When stripped of these minerals, water can become unhealthy especially when consumed over a long period of time.

Adding minerals back into this type of water was once thought to be a solution but we now know that adding synthetic minerals back into our water can cause health concerns of their own.

Our systems, on the other hand, utilize the naturally-occurring minerals in your source water during electrolysis while producing our healthy drinking water! Not only is our water rich in molecular hydrogen but it’s also rich in minerals, too!

If you currently have an RO system and would like to invest in Kangen you have 2 choices:

1.⁠ ⁠Remove the RO system in order for your Kangen unit to work, and replace with a pre-filter (there are many affordable and effective options which can be shared with you on a discovery call).

2.⁠ ⁠If you do not want to remove your RO system you can purchase a remineralizing filter. Some remineralizing filters only add back in Calcium. This is enough to alkalize the water but not enough to provide a full spectrum of necessary trace minerals. Too much calcium can cause problems in the body.
